Resolutions for 2009

Teen Vogue

1. Be happy!

"Happiness and success in life are not the result of what we have, but rather of how we live." Jim Rohn.

2. Walk my dog more frequently, even in the freezing cold!

3. Redecorate my bathroom

4. Write a LOT more!

There's an old saying that goes: Writers write. This is so true. If you keep at it, the inspiration invariably comes. It works every time... I just need to stick to it....the novel will soon be finished.

Juicy Couture
5. Take the time to enjoy and cherish every moment.

Life rushes by. Take a moment to appreciate what you have. I will do so this year.

6.Entertain at home more often.

I love having friends over. Who cares if the kitchen is a mess and the chicken is slightly burnt? It's all about the company and the conversation

7. Read more books of different genres (and less chick lit!)

8. Eat at home + cook more often.

I spend way too much money in restaurants and take-out counters. And the food tastes much better at home in good company.

9. Get more exercise!

It puts me in a good mood every time.

10. Shop mostly in thrift stores...

I love the thrill of the hunt and...it's much better for the environment and my wallet!

Happy 2009!!

Red Lips

I'm having a major crush on red lips at the moment...Especially on Cameron Diaz at the premiere of Shrek on Broadway. ( It's part of the overall red tend...)

Unfortunately, when I try it on at the cosmetic counter, I feel that it looks a bit clownish and go back to my pink palette. But in 2009, I am going for bold red lips!

Mad for Plaid

Flare

This recent photo shoot for Flare magazine is pure Canadiana at its best. I came across it on a fellow Canadian's blog. The model is Canadian ( Heather Marks), as are the site and photographer ( Chris Nicholls). The styling is nothing less than spectacular, and the red blanket and plaid coat (in the first picture) is just what I am craving right now to cozy up next to a fire.. ( especially after getting all this snow!!)

I am definitely wearing plaid this holiday season....

Lounging in Style

I have every intention to lounge around during the holidays with a few good books ( after the hustle and bustle is officially over!) I came across these great pictures in Elle magazine that inspire me to lounge about in style.

PapaYa! Art

I discovered something fantastic this week thanks to the blog of a well informed San Francisco native.  It is a stationer based in Oregon by the name of Papaya Art.  They make lovely cards, notebooks, binders, posters, magnets, etc.

The art is amazing and they ship to Canada! I love PapaYA!!

Despite the fact that the name of my blog is Pink Lemonade, I truly love red.

I have more red accessories in my home than anyone I know and I don't see this trend slowing down anytime soon. There is a gorgeous painting above my mantel with red poppies in the foreground and I just picked up bed linens for a guest room with red accessories.  This time of year allows me to really go crazy! I love chunky coral necklaces, red shoes, plaid and red doors...

I am also seriously lusting after a red Birkin Bag but that will have to wait....several years!

Christmas Store Windows

Coach

Le Printemps

Galeries Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette

Okay, I thought I had seen it all when living in New York in terms of elaborate Christmas windows. But les Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps are blowing me away with theirs this year.

Les Galeries' windows took 8 months to create, 3 weeks to install, a 1000 toys and 190 animated creatures while Le Printemps has Coco the puppet dressed in Chanel ( and by Karl himself) gracefully hanging in mid air in a surreal garden. Wow! It makes me want to hop on a plane to see this live and to be a child again. I added the Coach store window above as the colors they used really popped! And Chanel's windows at the Bellagio weren't very christmassy but...... really gorgeous.

Decorating with Tory

I'm in the middle of a christmas decorating blitz!

It's a bit last minute as my favorite tree vendor has now run out of trees! But I'm trying to keep my cool and get things done with a smile while listening to my new Tory Burch CD (that she has released to benefit a good cause Save the Children).

I picked up a copy in Las Vegas last week and it is AMAZING! I highly recommend it, it it will definitely put you in a good mood, especially song #2 In these Shoes? by Kirsty Maccoll. I have added it to my video bar so you can hear a sample. The actual video ( 3rd one down) is hilarious! Cheers!
