Paris Dreaming

Hello my friends. I hope you're having a great start to the week. 

I've been working very hard on the edits to my manuscript for J'Adore Paris amd I must say that I'm getting quite excited about the results.

Working on this book has got me dreaming and thinking about the glorious city and wondering what is it about that magical place that has us so entranced. I good friend of mine came up with an answer recently: Paris represents a feminine energy with its round arches, curvaceous bridges, flowing water, incandescent light and street names such as Rue Madame and Rue Princesse.

I think she may be on to something. Do you agree?

Happy Monday mes amies! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I was busy working away, doing some hot yoga ( my new passion), but I did take time out last night to watch the SAG awards and I was beyond thrilled to see Jean Dujardin beat out George Clooney as best actor! (watch the video, it will make you smile!)

I do hope he gets the Academy Award. Fingers crossed.

When my dear friend Michel sent mea photo he took on a recent trip to Peru, I was captivated by the gorgeous colors of the woman's shawl and decided to create an inspiration board from the palette. Do you like it?

I will be doing some traveling soon and I've started looking out for some fun resort pieces. I think I'll be using this blue palette as g foundation for my research.

Inspiration: positive affirmations

I've been reading a lot lately about the power of positive affirmations. Given that they're supposed to bring into your life what your mind focuses on the most, I've been repeating a few affirmations on regular basis. After all, positive thoughts can't hurt, right?

Well, I can now confirm that it totally works! I received an exciting new writing project yesterday from one of the companies I've been thinking about approaching to offer my services!

I've also started doing hot yoga and I absolutely love it. The toxin release is amazing, making me feel calmer and more centered. Although I thought I would totally pass out before the end of the first class, the endurance I've developed is something I'm proud of.

Here's to adding positive energy to our lives.

Classic Dior Pre-Fall

It was Mr. Dior's birthday last weekend. So a little tribute is in order don't you think? Above is Dior's classic pre-fall 2012 collection in muted blush pinks, greys and blacks.

There was also the Dior couture presentation in Paris this week, which was nowhere near the extravagant shows of recent past. I spotted a lovely picture of Cameron Diaz in a classic Dior dress. What do you think?

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I spent time catching up on a bit of work and enjoyed the outdoors.

Are you heading to Paris any time soon? There are some exciting events coming up if you are:

First up, the Louis Vuitton-Marc Jacobs exhibit at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Apparently, each one gets their own floor at the Museum and it will cover more than 2 centuries of fashion. If this exhibit isn't making you drool, I don't know what will.

Another exciting event: the Christian Louboutin show at the Crazy Horse.

He opened his first boutique in Paris in 1991 with Princess Caroline of Monaco as his first customer.

Today,  20 years later and in a celebration of two decades in business, Louboutin is to become the first 'guest creator' in the history of Parisian cabaret club Le Crazy Horse. 

Finally, I thought I'd share this amazing list prepared by Design Sponge about things to do in the City of Light.

All this buzzing activity makes you want to jump in the next Air France flight, non?

As you may know, On February 7th, Karl Lagerfeld will be the guest editor-in-chief of the Métro newspaper.

Lovely Book: The Dinner Party Diary

Do you like to keep a record of your dinner parties, take notes about seating arrangements, favorite recipes and choice suppliers? The Dinner Party Diary is the perfect book for you!  It even includes some witty quotes and extra pages for inspiration.

I had the opportunity to ask its author, Deborah Greenspan, a few questions about her book:

1-Where did you get the idea for this lovely & practical book?

I kept my own spiral-bound notebook for years. I’m absolutely Type A, and so I take great comfort in being organized! Plus, it would drive me crazy when I couldn’t remember my neighbor’s favorite drink or the delicious chili I had served the winter prior. So I got in the habit of taking notes on the events I hosted, including the guests that attended, what I served, and those dishes that people loved (or not). Friends commented on how much they liked the idea, so I tried to find one for hostess gifts. But there was nothing that contained the information I knew was important in the price range I was looking for...so I decided to make my own!

2-What would be your #1 tip about seating arrangements?

Disregard the old tradition about sitting at the head of the table. In fact, I suggest that you sit right in the middle! That way, you can engage the whole table in a discussion (if the table is small), or you can direct your attention to a side of the table where conversation may be a little lacking.

3-What are your top 5 entertaining do's and don'ts?

5) Use Post-It Notes to mark the serving pieces you will use for each dish. You’ll never again be taking something out of the oven and suddenly realize the only large dish available is in the attic.

4) If children are invited, let them eat first. I have three young boys, and I know my only chance of having an adult conversation is if they are not in the room. So I usually feed the children first, and then set them up in another room with a movie.

3) Serve more than one course. Nothing is more frustrating than spending days preparing a meal, only to have it devoured and done in 15 minutes. I usually serve salad or soup first, and clear it away before I serve the main course. That way the dinner is more drawn out and leisurely.

2) Never clear the table right away! My favorite dinner parties have guests lingering around a candlelit table for hours, just dwelling in the pleasure of good friends and conversation.

1) Relax. Your guests will remember the energy of the evening far longer than they remember the dishes you served.

4- Do you have a favorite recipe when you have guests over for dinner?

My favorite recipe for the winter holidays is a brisket recipe that a friend shared with me many years ago. It is absolutely delicious and incredibly easy. Be sure to save the leftovers for brisket sandwiches!

· 4-5 lb brisket

· 4 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet Browning & Seasoning Sauce

· 6 oz. orange juice

· 1 12-oz. jar of chili sauce (I use Heinz)

Combine browning sauce, orange juice, and chili sauce. Take 2 long pieces of aluminum foil and place them in a 9x11” dish so that the foil pieces make a “t.” Place brisket in center of foil and pour mixture over brisket. Pinch together aluminum foil pieces at top and on sides so that it makes a foil “packet.” Make sure the mixture does not leak out the sides and into the dish. Cook for approximately 3 hours at 325 degrees or until done.

5- What was your favorite dinner party and why?

My favorite dinner party was for my 40^th birthday. I always like to celebrate special occasions in my home and add to the memories there. I had an all-girls event—women of different ages and backgrounds who have supported and inspired me throughout my life. We ate. We drank. We laughed. We danced. It was perfect.

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! It was bitterly cold here this weekend but I still managed to take my dog for a very long walk in -22C weather. If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

At the urging of a family member, I finally joined Pinterest and I'm totally hooked. Please follow me and I promise to follow you back!

As a side note, I'm thrilled that tangerine was chosen as the Pantone color of the year because at this sluggish time of year, we can all use the extra vitamin C boost. I ordered a bright orange cape on the Outnet yesterday, and I can't wait to wear it.

Here are the effects of wearing or decorating with this joyous color:

   It frees and releases emotions and releases feelings of self-pity, lack of self worth and unwillingness to forgive.  It stimulates the mind and renews interest in life.  It is a natural anti-depressant and lifts the spirit.  A fun & sociable color, although too much can contribute to frivolity and a lack of serious intellectual values.   Orange is for independence and happiness.  The energy of creation.   Orange is thought to bring about changes in the biochemical structure, resulting in the dispersing of depression.

Promotes:   vitality, stimulation, self-esteem, independence, inner strength, optimism,  creativity, self-expression, happiness, broadens and opens up the mind to new  ideas and perspectives, understanding

Happy Friday!! The week just zoomed by, non? 

For many, it was the first week back at work, slowly getting back into a routine after the holidays. How was your week? I was fortunate to attend an après-ski cooking course held at the gourmet boutique Les Touilleurs. It was fantastic ( and very calorie intensive!) I look forward to sharing some of the recipes here next week.

In the meantime, there are rumors of a new collaboration at Target ( I know, I'm sightly obsessed)

Finally, I've just ordered a copy of the Paris vintage shopping book above. I promise to share any great secrets!

My dear friend Pascale

This is my childhood friend Pascale Bourbeau in December's edition of Vita Magazine. Doesn't she look gorgeous in that sparkly festive attire? In the last picture, she's wearing the dreamy Chanel dress I had the unbelievable chance to view live on the runway at the fall 2012 collection presentation at the Grand Palais in Paris last spring.

Gorgeous Book: Dior Joaillerie

The first book by Rizzoli to celebrate the timeless beauty and craftsmanship of  Dior’s jewelry designs. Happy Monday! I hope you had a terrific weekend! Mine stated out with a lovely lunch with friends and the rest was filled with outdoor activity, fresh air and working and reading by the fire.

Happy Friday mes amies! I'm seeing red these days, craving lots and lots of bold color. I guess it's because of the shorter days and greyish skies. I need the color boost!

I've worked hard this week on the manuscript edits and I'm feeling really good about it. Looking forward to doing a bit of skiing and snow shoeing this weekend to get some fresh air.

Fellow Canadians who appreciate an occasional visit to Target for their fab fashion collaborations will rejoice: they've announced the opening of 24 stores in Ontario. Looking forward to a Quebec opening but that usually takes a bit longer because of language issues. Anyway, it's great news.

Candyland

It looks like Mulberry has done it again with their upcoming spring campaign! I've only caught a glimpse of it but all I can say is that I love the sweet color palette, it reminds me of my favorite summer treat: salt water taffy. Those yummy greens and yellows are as refreshing as a glass of lemonade.

Their recent show was a hoot with those miniature schnauzers stealing the limelight. For obvious reasons, I'm tickled pink that candy colored palettes are going to be big again this spring.

If I could live in a Mulberry ad, I would be in heaven. And if I could live in this stunning color scheme, that would be pretty fantastic too!

Speaking of pink, I'm sharing the New Year greeting card I received from my friends in France, isn't the design just fabulous?

Hello my friends! I hope you had a fantastic holiday! What are you up to this week? I am hard at work today on two projects, trying to move them forward as best and quickly as I can. I've also decided to start a more healthy routine that involves more exercise as it's proven that your brain functions much better after a cardio workout. I hope this will help me with the writing!

If you have trouble sticking to any resolutions, I encourage you to read this piece by Greg Dinkin, perhaps his five step process can help put you on the right path for the new year!

A time for reflection and pause

As 2011 comes to an end, it's time for me to take stock, reflect on the past year and look ahead. What accomplishments am I most proud of, what would I like to change and where can I improve.

Resolutions are very personal, and each of us can look within to find where we'd like to make some tiny tweaks or major changes.

I've been thinking about it for a few days now and this is what I've come up with:

As a writer,  I'd like to become more efficient with my time which means cutting back on time wasters and procrastination enablers, which include mindless surfing on the web,  social media addiction and fighting an inability to say no to many demands on my time. 

I also want to cut back on mindless spending. I've decided to try to invest in quality pieces instead of throwing good money on an array of mediocre goods. Instead of buying ten "okay" sweaters, I want to buy that gorgeous one that will make me feel super special, and that will last for years to come. This will be a tough habit to break as I love shopping in places such H& M and Forever 21, but often times such purchases end up making me feel empty and unsatisfied. And it looks like I'm not the only one feeling this way. 

And finally, a list resolutions would be incomplete without wanting to take better care of yourself. In my case, it will involve cutting back on coffee, soda and candy ( things I guzzle mindlessly while writing). I want replace such unhealthy things with nutritious fresh carrot juice, green tea and almonds.

With respect to some accomplishments of the past year, I'm delighted to announce that with the precious help of my new literary agent, I've signed my publishing contract for J'Adore Paris. I am now busy working on editing the manuscript with my editor and will share news about its release as it becomes available.

I'd like to wish each and every one of you a fantastic 2012 and look forward to sharing with you in the new year. Thank you again for taking the time to read my blog.  Most of all, I wish you health, creativity, prosperity and happiness.

I'll be taking a small break from the blog, and heading to a special jewel of a place deep in the woods for some snow shoeing, hiking and enjoying red wine by a roaring fire. Peace and love to you.

Happy Friday!! It's almost Christmas Eve and I'm delighted to share an interview with my friend, author Kim Smith. Aren't her decorations above divine? Her book O Garden of Fresh Possibilities would make a wonderful gift for anyone who loves gardening or pretty flower illustrations.

She was kind enough to share some of her holiday traditions and secrets as well as some exciting projects:

1- What are the holiday traditions that you enjoy with your family and that warm your heart?

I love to cook for my family and they love to eat so the majority of our traditions revolve around sharing meals together. This past year both our children have been away at school; our daughter Liv is at NYU graduate school for opera, and this is our son Alex’s first year at Green mountain College in Vermont. Alex told me the thing he misses most about home is my cooking—so I am going extra all out! When at home for the holidays (we spend half our holidays at home in Gloucester and every other year in Cincinnati, Ohio) we love having dinner parties for our family and friends. My daughter is arriving home on the 21^st and she has given me her wish list of dinner suggestions for the upcoming week. Two of her favorites are lobster risotto and cheese fondue. Cheese fondue served with cubes of crusty baguettes and lightly steamed vegetables is our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. Liv is oftentimes singing for Christmas Eve services and fondue is wonderfully cozy and very simple and relaxing to prepare after we arrive home late from church. Our latest favorite version is with cheese, fresh lobster, and artichoke hearts.

My husband comes from a very large German family and for over 100 years they have celebrated Christmas Eve with an elegant sit down dinner for all the relatives—aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, cousins, grandparents, and children, which is nearly equally as fun as when we are at home celebrating—and I get a night off from cooking!

2- What do you have planned this year as a special holiday treat?

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is holiday movie night, whether with all the cousins in Ohio or here at home. This year we are super thrilled to go see Tintin!! Our son Alex grew up adoring Hergé’s Tintin and has read them all multiple times. I believe he owns every single book. We are all praying Spielberg has not Disneyfied the characters, especially Captain Archibald Haddock; hopefully is still his salty self.

3-Do you collect Christmas decorations? Where do you find your treasures?

I love collecting Christmas decorations and have forever. Many are handmade or were purchased in little shops on Beacon Hill (where I lived for many years), vintage shops, and flea markets. I have several pairs of a little boy and a little girl tree ornaments that I purchased long before our children were born. Every year when placing these ornaments on the tree, I am reminded how very fortunate I am to be blessed with two beautiful children.

4- Are you working on any exciting writing projects at the moment that you can share with us?

This winter I am writing the scripts for three television documentaries. These projects are very near and dear to my heart. I shot the footage this past summer and autumn. The first is titled The Life Story of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly, the second, The Life Story of the Monarch Butterfly, and the third came about because I was getting such fantastic “B” roll filming the butterflies and wildflowers along the shoreline of Cape Ann. This film is about Good Harbor Beach, not only about the flora and fauna found there, but also about the history of the beach and how it is used by our community today.

5- Your husband Tom is also a writer. What's he up to these days?

He has written a series of (simply amazing and very gripping) politically oriented detective thrillers and is looking for an agent.

6-Any recipe you would like to share?

Isabelle, this is my first year with this recipe and it was a huge hit. Very, very easy to prepare and makes a wonderful host/hostess gift, too.

Chocolate Amaretto Truffles

Mini baking cups

2 ounces. Baker’s sweet German chocolate, broken into small bits

6 ounces Ghiradelli semi-sweet chocolate chips

¼ C. Disaronno Amaretto liqueur

2 Tbs. strong coffee

Few drops almond extract

2 ounces (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened

1 Tbs. vanilla extract

½ C. pulverized Jules Destrooper almond thins (or Anna’s, or any super fine, thin cookie)

Confectioner’s sugar to taste (approximately ½ cup)

½ C. Ghiradelli unsweetened cocoa powder for final powdering

Melt sweet chocolate bits and semi-sweet chocolate chips over a gently simmering double boiler.

Whisk in liqueur, coffee, almond extract, and vanilla. Whisk vigorously, over gentle heat, a few minutes more until mixture is shiny and smooth. Gradually add the butter by tablespoons. With a wooden spoon, beat in the pulverized cookies. Beat in sifted confectioner’s sugar, to taste. Remove the pan from the double boiler and place in a bowl of ice with water. Stir until well chilled and firm enough to form into balls.

By teaspoonful, gather up a gob and form into a rough, truffle-like shape. Roll in cocoa powder and drop into frilled paper cup.

Makes about 22, depending on size. Refrigerate in an airtight container. They will keep for several weeks or they may be frozen. (Very) loosely adapted from Julia Child’s Chocolate Amaretti Truffles The Way to Cook Page 485.

Hello my dear friends, I hope you had an amazing weekend! Mine was beyond amazing with a whirlwind trip to New York City. I visited Lady Gaga's holiday workshop at Barney's, took in the stunning holiday windows, attended a great concert and saw two exhibits at the MOMA and the Guggenheim Museum. Holiday Magic

This time of year can be both stressful and sweet. Amidst all the holiday brouhaha, it's important to remember that this is really a time about being grateful and giving back, whether it be time spent with family or helping out a good cause.

I attended a lovely cocktail last night organized by my friend Christine who raised funds for a local charity. Although she has her hands full with a demanding job and two kids, she still takes the time to help others in need.  And that is the spirit of Christmas.

Speaking of giving back, a special thanks goes to Jennifer Daiker for mentioning me on her great blog!

Here are a few pictures taken during the soirée at the Harricana store in Montreal. Harricana by Mariouche is a local designer who works with recycled fur, and her pieces are truly stunning. We were blessed with a private concert by Florence K. a talented signer.

Magnificent: Chanel Paris-Bombay

For its Métiers D'Arts show, Chanel was inspired by the subcontinent's grace, elegance and style. Equal parts Bombay and Paris, the tasteful mixture of silk fabrics, rich brocades and saris with the house's signature tweed jackets, black classic looks and pearls was presented in a subdued, classic way.

I spent a month in India a few years ago and was completely charmed by this gorgeous faraway land, and I am in awe of the beauty of this collection and Mr. Lagerfeld's immense talent in simplifying it to its most basic elements.

I can also relate to his quote as this was how I felt while I was traveling:

“It sounds terrible to say this, but India is the one country where even the poor have something very chic about them,” Lagerfeld told reporters after the show. “Even if she has nothing, the poorest woman will have two three bangles, an elegant pink sari. It’s very courageous, really.”

Leaving out no detail, whether in the intricate decor at the Grand Palais or in the choice of accessories,( throughout the show, models were festooned with stunning tikka, or headpieces, reminiscent of Indian wedding jewellery) this is by far my favorite Métiers D'Arts collection.

Happy Monday mes amies! Did you have a wonderful weekend?

Mine was filled with long reinvigorating walks in the gorgeous outdoors, great food and good company. I managed to find some lovely decorations that are now hanging outside my front door.

I have a fun filled week ahead, including a local event on Wednesday evening.

Happy Friday mes amies! I hope you had a fantastic week!

Mine was great and a bit more relaxing. I caught up on administrative matters and even managed to do a bit of shopping. My Black Friday Week finds include a cozy pair of faux fur mittens with adorable pom poms at H&M and this enchanting book by Camilla Morton about the life of Manolo Blahnik!

After years of writing countless show reviews, this fashion  journalist is now penning fairy tales. “I am enchanted by how clothes make  you feel, and the people behind it,” Morton said. “Because sometimes the  magic and the art of creation gets forgotten in the rush to find the  next big thing.” 

So Morton set about crafting fashion fairy tales,  blending the lives of fashion icons with classic fairy tales. The icons  supply the illustrations, of course (see illustrations by Manolo  Blahnik, below.)It's lovely and would make a wonderful gift.You can read an interview with the author here.

Giving thanks in style

Above are some of the styles I would wear if I were celebrating Thanksgiving this week! ( sadly, ours has already past here in Canada).

Chunky knits & cardigans, wool pants and colorful tights are my fall staple.

The Rose Ball-Le Diner en Rose

I was lucky to attend a lovely gala yesterday, Le Diner en Rose, a fundraiser for breast cancer. As part of the evening, we witnessed touching testimonials from cancer survivors, we were entertained by talented musicians and sipped Pink Champagne. 

Caroline Neron, a local celebrity offered a cheque of $40,000 to the Kelly Shires Foundation to assist cancer patients, with money raised through the sale of her pink jewelry collection.

A local fashion blogger, Lolitta Dandoy, wore a dress of roses, created by local designer Helmer Joseph to the event; it was breathtaking. 

It was lovely to see so many women wearing a touch of pink!

Happy Monday!! Did you have a great weekend? Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

I had a great weekend which started with a nice lunch with my publisher and fellow Montreal author, Catherine McKenzie.

Then I was off to sign books at Le Salon du Livre and meet lovely local readers, which is always a treat.

On Saturday, I was lucky to head a writing workshop at the QWF offices in Westmount and met a wonderful group of ladies and enjoyed a fun dinner with friends.

It ended with cooking a delicious fish stew on Sunday and a well deserved glass of red wine!

Tonight I am dropping by Le Bal en Rose, a charity event for breast cancer and will be donating some of my books for the cause.

Pretty bows

I'm loving all the pretty bow tie blouses and ribbons!
Some find them stuffy and matronly, but I simply adore them. I bought a red plaid one at Tommy Hilfiger last year and I spotted some pretty ones recently at Zara, Shopbop, and Tory Burch.

Let yourself shine!

Hello mes amies! The holiday season is almost here so it's time to bring out the shiny and sparkly accessories!

I'm attending the opening of the new Charlotte Hosten boutique tonight here in Montreal and I'm really looking forwarding to it. She makes the most gorgeous shiny pieces ( she just signed a contract with Anthropologie!) There is a cocktail party at her new shop on Bernard street.

Another wonderful place for sparkly party accessories is This & That Axesoir, a chain of fab shops here in Montreal.

And since shining on the inside is even more important than on the outside, here are some tips on How To Make Yourself Shine!

Believe in your abilities.
No one can believe in you better than you can. And you must do it! Sure your friends and family and coworkers might tell you you're great, that you're a shining star, but you won't really believe it until YOU know that you're awesome. It's as simple as that. Believing in yourself is the first step to being the shining, awesome person I know you are.
Take care of your mind and body.
By keeping your mind and body in good working order, you're likely to be a lot more confident in your abilities. Take time to listen to what your thoughts are telling you. Know yourself and respect that person. Likewise, listen to your body. Take into account your bodies needs and respect the way you treat your body. You will definitely me more confident if you feel good and have a clear mind.
Emphasize your strengths.
We ALL have strengths and weaknesses. No one is perfect. So instead of harping on your less-than-perfect traits, focus on what you can do, what you're good at. If possible, get a job (or a hobby) that highlights your abilities. This will reinforce your true awesomeness and remind you of what a stellar being you are. Focus on the good in you!
Leap over obstacles.
When you encounter things or people standing in your way, use all of your strength and creativity to maneuver around them or leap over them. Those who aren't supportive of you and who don't believe you are a star should be left in the dust. Those activities that don't showcase your true talents should also be left behind. Who needs those anyway?
Break down barriers.
When barriers are so tall that you can't easily jump over them, break them down. Even if you have to use a tiny chisel and it takes all day long, you CAN break down the barriers in your life. You don't have to sit back and watch life pass you by because something is standing in the way of your awesomeness. If it's in your way, get rid of it. You deserve to shine and no wall of "you can't do it" should stand in your way!
Be YOU and no one else.
There is only one you, so be the best you you can be. You don't have to live up to someone else. You don't have to be someone else. You only have to be you and you deserve to be the best you that you can be. Consider what you want from life, what you need and what you don't. Make your needs and desires clear to the world and, above all else, stay true to yourself.
Accept praise graciously.
The best thing about being a shining star is receiving praise for a job well done. Don't shy away from praise or pass it off on someone else. Accept every kind word and amazing compliment and bask in it. No, this doesn't mean you're selfish or cocky or full of yourself. It means you know that you're a star and you're happy that other people know it too. It's tempting to shrug off praise, but don't. You deserve it.
Tune in to yourself.
Listen to yourself first and foremost. When you get an idea, don't be the first one to shoot it down. Believe you can do it. Encourage yourself. Fill your mind with the belief that you can do ANYTHING, and you'll find that you can. When you hear negative voices whispering that you're not good enough or can't do it, silence them immediately. Listen to the real you -- the you that believes you can do whatever you believe you can do.

Just Like Candy

I'm in a very colorful mood these days... I'm working on a few exciting projects so this has got me bringing out the dazzling pinks, oranges and blues!

I also uncovered a treasure trove of colorful costume jewelry I bought in India several years ago and I'm looking forward to wearing them out to add a little ooomph to my winter wardrobe.

Have you read the fabulous Kate Spade interview in Matchbook Mag? It sounds like she has a new business concept in the works with her hubby! They even have a name registered. Wooohoo!

Stripe Love Affair

If you've been following my blog, you probably have guessed by now that I ADORE anything with stripes!  Shirts, skirts, throw pillows, furniture, you name it, i love it!

I particularly love the striped drawer chest above and the monogrammed pillows. I'm thinking of ordering the blue and white one for my office.  And those cute mittens, aren't they just adorable? Today, I'm wearing a striped blue and white skirt that I picked up at Forever 21 for a song.

Leopard Season

Is it me or do leopard prints come back every fall? Not that I'm complaining...I've actually been collecting a few select items over the years, including a gorgeous silk cape that I bought many years ago in NYC. But a dainty, feminine, vintage coat was really what I was on the hunt for and mes amies, I'm happy to report that

*I have found it.* Here it is my new baby:

Hope you like it! I promise to take a shot of me wearing it as soon as I have a fabulous occasion to wear it out. I look forward to mixing it up with bright colors (like the green sweater pictured above.)

P.S. I found my new best friend at Arterie, a lovely vintage shop in Montreal. The prices are reasonable and the staff is so sweet too.

If there's one time per year where I love this color combination, it's right now! I'm seeing yummy orange hues everywhere at the moment and it's fantastic!
