The kiss of the sun

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,--
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

-Dorothy Frances Gurney

I had the chance to visit the stunning gardens that inspired Monet's paintings at Giverny recently, and having witnessed such beauty, I can attest to the truth in this poem.

These photographs are absolutely stunningly beautiful. And, how fortunate you are to have visited Giverny. Enchantment evermore.

I feel that way whenever I'm outdoors, anywhere. I am definitely a creature of the sun, I thrive in summer and I can spend a whole day walking around when it's nice weather! I'm so happy to be outside sometimes in summer that I forget to eat lunch - if it wasn't for my daughters reminding me, that would be a way to lose a couple of stones ;-)
