Book Love: The Hamptons by Ricky Lauren

The summer is just around the corner, bringing back many memories of spending wonderful weekends in the Hamptons. When I came a cross this new book by Ralph Lauen's wife, Ricky, I was intrigued.

The book contains many recipes, including family secrets, such as a rising tide lobster soufflĂ©. It is filled with memories, celebrates summer on Long Island’s East End with one of America’s first families of style.

Book Inspired Runway: Gatsby at Ralph Lauren

Back in 1974, Ralph Lauren was the set costume designer for the iconic movie The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. Fast forward to 2011-2012, the remake is currently being filmed in Australia.

It will be directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan, as well as Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway.

It also happens to be my all time favorite novel. Needless to say, I am smitten with this gorgeous, timeless and classic collection: the cloche hats, the long string of pearls and the tailored suits presented last week in New York are simply stunning.

I'm already looking forward to next spring. How about you?

Olympic fever

Are you excited about the Vancouver Olympics yet? Well, I am! Not only are they in one of the most stunning places in Canada but there will be lots of great moments to watch. I just read the wonderful article about Lindsey Vonn in the New York Times that is definitely worth a read. She is the living proof that in order to fulfill your dreams, it takes a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication and courage:  if you fall down, you get right back up without feeling defeated. She is definitely a role model for all of us.

And the fact that Ralph Lauren is the official designer of the U.S. Team will make this even more fun to watch!

Let the games begin!

Another Heart Stopping Moment: Ralph Lauren

I walked into the Ralph Lauren Rhinelander Mansion over the holidays and needless to say, I almost fainted when I got to the interior decor section. Their stylists ( is that a dream job or what??) have created a room that makes you feel as though you've stepped into a rustic dreamland of a lodge on Lake Placid on a snowy white weekend. Sounds like a dream? It is!!!!! Check out the video

Tartan Fever

I really love tartan, it brings me back to my childhood. My high school uniform consisted of a black-watch tartan skirt and my mother made me wear lots of tartan coats and berets. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Of all the fall collection runway pictures I've seen, my favorites are from Ralph Lauren. The silvers, light grays, pastels and frills are stunning. The masculine look of the wide pants and vests mixed in with feminine colors  is fantastic.
