Enjoy summer's pleasures

Enjoy summer's pleasures day by day
before they are quickly gone away.
Much too soon, it's back to school
with darker nights and the air so cool.
I'm taking advantage of every hour
While strolling the fields and smelling flowers.

If you can, swim in a lake or the sea
That feeling of freedom will set you free.
Nothing's better than that salty air
with sunshine and wind blowing through your hair.

And if you'll excuse me, I will now disappear
As the smell of autumn is much too near.

(poem by me!)

(And just because it's summer, take a peek at book covers that match bathing suits!)

Magnificent: Chanel Paris-Bombay

For its Métiers D'Arts show, Chanel was inspired by the subcontinent's grace, elegance and style. Equal parts Bombay and Paris, the tasteful mixture of silk fabrics, rich brocades and saris with the house's signature tweed jackets, black classic looks and pearls was presented in a subdued, classic way.

I spent a month in India a few years ago and was completely charmed by this gorgeous faraway land, and I am in awe of the beauty of this collection and Mr. Lagerfeld's immense talent in simplifying it to its most basic elements.

I can also relate to his quote as this was how I felt while I was traveling:

“It sounds terrible to say this, but India is the one country where even the poor have something very chic about them,” Lagerfeld told reporters after the show. “Even if she has nothing, the poorest woman will have two three bangles, an elegant pink sari. It’s very courageous, really.”

Leaving out no detail, whether in the intricate decor at the Grand Palais or in the choice of accessories,( throughout the show, models were festooned with stunning tikka, or headpieces, reminiscent of Indian wedding jewellery) this is by far my favorite Métiers D'Arts collection.

Fall Line Up

I know it's a bit of a bummer, but the chilly weather is just around the corner. Here are a few items that I've noticed for fall from the Chloe, Tommy Hilfiger and Diane Von Furstenberg collections. I love how they've managed to mix shots of color with darker hues. I'm also loving the Chanel denim nail trio. Those rich blue tones are simply dreamy.

For those lucky ones in the other hemisphere, I came across a lovely spring campaign for Oroton, an Australian luxury retailer with a selection of gorgeous accessories. The photo shoot was done by streetstyle photographer Tommy TonJ'adore!

Happy Spring!!!

It's official, Spring is here! So happy to finally see warmer weather, more sunshine and bright colors appear. I don't know about you, but I found winter to be looooong this year.  I'm loving all the bold colors that are popping up everywhere, especially on the runway and in magazines. I'm particularly fond of red and I have a hat just like the one pictured above that I had picked up at Target two years ago. Time to bring it out!

What better way to start the new season than with a surfing video that involves Chanel surfboards, yeah!

Have a great week!

Swooning over the details

I'm still swooning over all the carefully put together outfits I observed during Fashion Week and am looking forward to introducing some of the little details into my own wardrobe, especially the pink bobby socks!

Lots of summer fun!

I have found THE SUMMER DRINK par excellence: the Girl drink by Necker...I tried it this evening with a splash of cranberry juice and it was fantastic! It's quite fruity with a hint of raspberry and litchi; one sip and you'll be transported to a beach in no time. And of course what caught my attention was the bubble gum pink packaging!
