Mutted Palette at Dior

Loving this natural color palette at Dior for fall. It's a far cry from the neon, sparkles and flamboyance of yore and is refreshingly pretty, classical and neutral.

My dear friend Pascale

 

This is my childhood friend Pascale Bourbeau in December's edition of Vita Magazine. Doesn't she look gorgeous in that sparkly festive attire? In the last picture, she's wearing the dreamy Chanel dress I had the unbelievable chance to view live on the runway at the fall 2012 collection presentation at the Grand Palais in Paris last spring.

Dior Exhibit in Paris: Le Bon Marché

I just realized that I have many pictures of my recent trip to Paris that were never posted on this blog! Going back, I found these photos taken at a sublime exhibit about la Maison Dior at the gorgeous Le Bon Marché in the 6ième arrondissement. The exhibit was a successful mix of old & new, past collections created by Mr. Dior himself with more modern ones with an interesting mix of technology and film.

One interesting fact: Dior admits, in a short film, that he would have enjoyed being an architect. As a result, he "constructs" dresses with extreme precision. "The dress", said Dior, "is an ephemeral piece of architecture designed to enhance the proportions of the female body."

My visit was very timely since I refer to Dior in my second novel. (It was so inspiring, that I went back three times!) This exhibit also prompted a short scene in my book. Hope you will enjoy!

Swooning over the details

I'm still swooning over all the carefully put together outfits I observed during Fashion Week and am looking forward to introducing some of the little details into my own wardrobe, especially the pink bobby socks!

 Every spring, an euphoric sensation comes over me as the seasonal fashions change from dark, muted and cold to light, bright and cheery. My mood immediately lightens as I pass by the colorful windows and displays, dreaming of candy colored shoes and bags. This spring, it looks like I won't be disappointed with all the bright colors I saw while window shopping in Paris!

Also, it always makes me smile when the wearing of flowing flowered dresses coincides with the burgeoning of the crocus, tulips and daffodils.  To me, this is what fashion is all about, having fun, feeling great while being in tune with the seasons.
