Happy Monday!!!

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! Did you attend any fun parties?

Mine was very relaxing, and included a reinvigorating walk in the forest, cooking and catching up on my mail and administrative matters.

While working on an online project, I came across these lovely & cozy slippers at Anthropologie. They are so sweet, I'd take a pair in every color!

Have an amazing week!

Leopard Season

Is it me or do leopard prints come back every fall? Not that I'm complaining...I've actually been collecting a few select items over the years, including a gorgeous silk cape that I bought many years ago in NYC.  But a dainty, feminine, vintage coat was really what I was on the hunt for and mes amies, I'm happy to report that
*I have found it.* Here it is my new baby:

Hope you like it! I promise to take a shot of me wearing it as soon as I have a fabulous occasion to wear it out. I look forward to mixing it up with bright colors (like the green sweater pictured above.)

P.S. I found my new best friend at Arterie, a lovely vintage shop in Montreal. The prices are reasonable and the staff is so sweet too.

P.P.S If you want to go all out and have leopard nails, take a peek here!

Orange and Black

If there's one time per year where I love this color combination, it's right now! I'm seeing yummy orange hues everywhere at the moment and it's fantastic!

What are you up to for Halloween? I'm looking forward to adding a dash of this dynamic color duo into my home and watching spooky films.

Take a look at these cute dog bow ties on Etsy and don't miss out my friend Sandra's Halloween soirée here!

An ode to friendship

Happy Monday! How was your weekend??

Mine was fantastic! It started off with a Friday night dinner with a friend from New York that I hadn't seen in ages, some vintage shopping in Montreal's Mile End on Saturday ( where I found the loveliest vintage leopard coat), a few pillows at Style Labo and a some incredible finds at The Baie sale. ( pictures to follow, I promise!)

I spent Sunday with two of my dearest friends, cleaning out one their closets and it reminded me how important friends are to our happiness.

Here are two quotes that I found that ring so true:

"I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The bird a nest,
the spider a web,
man friendship."

- William Blake

Have a fantastic week!

I just came across this gorgeous Florrie video, thanks to the lovely Rachel of J'Adore You More.

A Ladylike Trend

I must say that I'm really enjoying the feminine trends these days. Nails neatly painted, cocktails rings galore and lots of skirts and dresses. After living in jeans for a good solid five years, it's refreshing to see women dressing up again. Perhaps it's thanks to  the Mad Men influence? In any case, I love it!

Color Inspiration: Bleu Gris

I'm loving this soft palette of blue and greys; it reminds me of Paris skies...Sighhhhhh, how I long to be back there to and see my dearest friends.

Hope you are having a terrific week so far!

Happy Monday + Sparkle!!!

Happy Monday!! Hope that you had a fantastic weekend!

Mine was very relaxing. I took it easy as I've been feeling a tad run down lately. Perhaps it's due to the change of seasons?

I'm delighted to share an article I wrote for the U of Sherbrooke law student newspaper. Because it's written in French, I thought I would share the translation here:

The 5 things that I know for sure:

1-Living a creative life is more rewarding than simply making lots money.  I once worked 14 hour days fueled by excessive ambition but had no spare time to pursue my artistic passions.  Sure,  I was making good money but I was seriously unhappy. Then I met a psychic in New York who told me that I was missing my calling as a writer. It took me a while to take her advice seriously but I eventually resigned from my cushy job and wrote my first novel, which has been the most rewarding event in my professional life.

2-Expensive handbags don't make you happy. When I was working around the clock as a lawyer, I often compensated on weekends by buying things.  Although it was fun for a while to parade around town with the season's "it" bag,  it soon lost its appeal and left me feeling empty.

3-To reach new horizons, you must lose sight of the shore. I've often repeated this quote to myself over the years. Going through a major career change can be very scary but it's important to look ahead and not dwell on the past.

4-Success is the culmination of a series of failures.  Like so many authors, when I first sent my manuscript to agents and publishers, I received countless rejection letters but I never gave up on my goal to be published no matter how discouraged I felt.   Eventually, a door opened for me and it was the right one.

5-Never let anyone get in the way of your dreams. Once you decide to make a major change in your life, many people might feel intimidated or uncomfortable with your willingness to take risks and may become vocal about it.   Don't let the naysayers rain on your parade, it's negative energy that you don't need at this crucial juncture in your life.

J'Adore the Mulberry Miniature Schnauzers!

I've been having a love affair with Mulberry lately: their ads are sublime and their bags, well, simply drool worthy.  But when I came across pictures of their recent London Fashion Week shows, I just about fell over. I adore miniature schnauzers, we have one in the family, her name is Lily. Apparently the dog's name is Pippa. Doesn't she look deliciously cranky on the *dog* walk?

All I can say is Pippa better watch out, as she has serious competition here in Canada.

After all, Canada is known for breeding some of the world's top supermodels and our Lily is a real looker!

Hello Chanel, any interest?

P.S. You can watch the video of the show here!

Happy Golden Friday!!

Happy Friday!! There's a delicious golden hue in the trees outside my window this morning  and it's simply magical.

I've beens sipping my coffee while listening to Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton's CD, a fantastic ode to the blues with a perfect rendition of Layla. I picked up a copy yesterday and if you love jazz and the blues, I encourage you to do the same.

Finally, if you're like me and wonder how all those fashion bloggers, models and editors manage to fabulously swoosh around town on their bikes looking fresh as a rose, without a trace of sweat, grease or  a wrinkle, you might want to read these tips from the pros.

I wish I could look this great on a bike ( see Garance below), but usually end up a total mess, my hair winded,  beads of sweat running down my shirt and my mascara running from the wind hitting my eyes. For now, my preferred method of stylishly getting around town remains walking.

What about you?? Can you pull it off?

Have a fantastic weekend!
