Happy Monday!!

Happy Monday! Hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend!

It was chilly here but we managed to enjoy a relaxing weekend which included a bit work and some family time.

How gorgeous is this book by Nichole Robertson? Published by Chronicle Books, it looks simply divine. Her distinct style of grouping lovely photographs of the City of Light by color theme is the idea behind her stunning work.

In other news, Dior apparently showed its haute couture collection in Shanghai this week, and here are some fashionable highlights of that soirée.

Wishing you a fantastic week!

Have a great weekend!!!

Okay, so enough with the serious stuff.

What are you up to this weekend?

I've got a busy program that includes a dinner party, fixing up a family member's new place and a book signing event on Sunday.

In the meantime, I'll be putting up my feet a bit later and enjoying a well deserved glass of red wine!

If you haven't see this already, take a look at the J'adore Dior  film in the Palais des Glaces at Versailles.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Le Bal des Roses de Dior

A collection of fine jewelry I can only dream about....sighhhhhh!
But it remains a treat for the senses, enjoy!

The ultimate union of High Jewelry and Haute Couture pays homage to Monsieur Dior’s favorite flower, the Rose. The collection features 12 unique pieces that evoke the image of blooming women attending a ball in their most beautiful gowns.

Personified and dressed in their most exquisite finery, these flower-women, each bearing the name of a 1950′s ball gown, are preparing themselves for one of those extraordinary evenings.

” The petals of these Dior roses are delicate fabrics with all the softness of satin while the stones with which they are set are the glorious embroideries embellishing them. I wanted to pay the greatest attention to the details on the linings which reveal an ultra-refined underside and hidden stones. I have imagined opulent Jewelry where stones are set with other stoned until they evoke the most luxurious embroidered fabrics.” ~~Victoire de Castellane

Dior Exhibit in Paris: Le Bon Marché

I just realized that I have many pictures of my recent trip to Paris that were never posted on this blog! Going back, I found these photos taken at a sublime exhibit about la Maison Dior at the gorgeous Le Bon Marché in the 6ième arrondissement. The exhibit was a successful mix of old & new, past collections created by Mr. Dior himself with more modern ones with an interesting mix of technology and film.

One interesting fact: Dior admits, in a short film, that he would have enjoyed being an architect. As a result, he "constructs" dresses with extreme precision. "The dress", said Dior, "is an ephemeral piece of architecture designed to enhance the proportions of the female body."

My visit was very timely since I refer to Dior in my second novel. (It was so inspiring, that I went back three times!) This exhibit also prompted a short scene in my book. Hope you will enjoy!

Pre-Oscar Parties

This is an exciting week in Hollywood, lots of glamorous pre-Oscar parties are under way.

Harvey Weinstein co-hosted a party at Chateau Marmont last night with Dior that included Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway and Emmy Rossum, among others...
Apparently Dior linens and tableware were flown in directly from Paris for the event. How I wished I was there.  What would I wear to such a soirée? Black dress, red lips and lots of pearls!

I am sharing the lively Brooke Fraser video sent to me by my friend Stephanie, I just love the styling for it, don't you?

Sublime: Christian Dior Haute Couture

In this collection, a retro silhouette, apparently inspired by illustrator Rene Gruau.
